Busy, busy Fall/Winter at CSLI!
Activities, events and special days have been happening non-stop the past few months at CSLI, with too many things to mention at once! From Caribbean Day to cross-Canada travel workshops, students have been entertained, enlightened, and energized on almost a daily basis. The visit by the Upper Hutt rugby team from New Zealand, who performed a traditional Haka dance before teaching us a thing or two about Maori culture was amazing!

Caribbean days at CSLI! Haka!

The series of auctions, bake sales, raffles, and draws were also not only fun but inspirational as CSLI managed to raise over $4,000 to help Jamie and Alexie in their bid to win Olympic Gold for Canada.

Busy Busy Fall/Winter!

And on a more serious note, bringing in a doctor to provide H1N1 vaccine shots to those who wanted them was also a testimony to how much CSLI cares about their students. Overall, it has been a great time to be at CSLI and we are looking forward to even better days throughout the rest of 2010! Come join us and see what all the fuss is about! http://www.csli.com/registration/register_now.html

Final stretch to the Olympics!
The 2010 Olympic Winter Games are almost here and the buzz of excitement at CSLI is noticeably growing as we approach the opening ceremonies! Centrally located in the heart of where many of the sporting events as well as cultural activities will be taking place, CSLI is well-situated to allow students, staff, and teachers alike to take full advantage of what is sure to be an amazing experience! And having spent the last year busy in preparation for the Olympics, CSLI is ready to ensure students make the most of their time, with a unique curriculum focusing on the Olympics, special school hours to allow everyone a chance to maximize their enjoyment of the games, and many Olympic-based activities and contests within the school itself! Guest speakers will also be paying us visits and CSLI is mobilizing CSLI student volunteers to greet and help out our international guests who will be in Vancouver especially for these Olympics. Check out our Facebook Fan page for updates on events at the school and in town during this once-in-a-lifetime event! http://www.facebook.com/unitingtheworld

* And don't forget to cheer on CSLI-sponsored Jamie Sterling, the Vancouver athlete guide who will be partnering with fellow Canadian Alexie Novikov in cross-country skiing at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games this March. Let`s help support Jamie and Alexie in their quest for Canadian gold! http://www.flickr.com/photos/cslicampus/sets/72157622399958129/

Gourmet grads fill our bellies!
Gourmet Grad The end of 2009 brought with it more of the incredible graduation parties that CSLI is famous for! And what better way to see the year off than dining on delectable international and Canadian cuisine! We started things out in November with the International Chef grad where we got to sample some amazing traditional delicacies from 15 different countries spanning the globe. Spices were flying as everyone gave a terrific effort but in the end, well-deserved prizes were presented to the teams from Korea for best presentation, Saudi Arabia for best food variety and taste, and France who took home the overall top prize. Congratulations to all and thanks for filling us up with such gourmet delights! December, of course, is well-known as that time of year when Canadians let loose and stuff themselves with Christmas goodies! So what better event than a CSLI Christmas grad party to follow Canadian tradition! We feasted on Turkey and all sorts of traditional holiday treats before welcoming Santa Claus to join in the festivities. It wasn't all about eating, however, as we also enjoyed some fascinating student presentations, a Christmas play, and a selection of beautiful carols from our CSLI choir who put in a lot of work to bring Christmas cheer to all. Thanks to everyone involved! Looking forward to starting the new year off with a bang as we welcome 2010 with our Olympic grad! Summer on it's way!
If 2010 is anything like 2009, we are in for an amazing Summer this year at CSLI! With students from over 35 nationalities joining us last Summer, it was truly a season for "uniting the world with English." It's still Winter now but Summer is looking set to shatter even that record! Re-uniting the world with English!
Re-uniting the world with English At CSLI, we always say that those who join us are part of the CSLI family for life! This past December brought with it a fantastic chance for former CSLI students to get together again for a little family reunion in Tokyo, Japan. A bunch of us got together from as far away as Canada and Brazil to reminisce about good times at CSLI and just enjoy being together again! We ate, danced, and sang into the night! CSLI is fast approaching 20 years in business! Why not use this milestone as an opportunity to start organizing similar CSLI reunions in your part of the globe! Or come and visit us in Vancouver! We'd love to see you again! And don't forget to put pictures of your events up on our Facebook fan page for all to share! http://www.facebook.com/unitingtheworld?v=photos&sb=4#/unitingtheworld?v=app_2344061033

Working in Canada!
CSLI continues to try and help students who dream of working in Canada! This Spring we will once again be offering our special "Working in Canada" series of Free Friday activity classes to help you reach your goal. We will help you prepare and focus on getting that job you want by introducing classes that will assist in getting your resume updated, prepare you for that crucial interview, and make sure your telephone skills are ready to go! http://www.csli.com/free_activities/friday_activities.html And, of course, CSLI's Practicum Experience Program is continuing to prove popular with our students who are looking to try something more "hands-on" when it comes to improving their English. This unique program has provided many CSLI students with wonderful opportunities to come in contact with Canadians and develop their English skills in the "real world" in the field of their interest. Check here http://www.csli.com/programs/csli_courses_practicum.html for more information!

Look Who`s Talking!

Hello, CSLI!!

Well, I`m not exactly talking yet but if I were, I`d have an awful lot to say about how great my mommy is!

My name is Arron and I`m already a whole 2 months old now. Many of you know my mommy as Suzy, the Korean counselor at CSLI. She and daddy were sure happy when I finally decided to show up on November 7th last year and I`m really glad to have them as my parents!

I think mommy is bored and really misses everyone at CSLI so I`m trying to keep her busy with lots of crying, making funny noises, and stuff like that. I want to keep her distracted until she`s ready to take me to CSLI to visit you all. I can`t wait! So, until then, take care and looking forward to meeting you soon!

Arron

Congratulations Suzy and Joong! And welcome Arron to the world and the CSLI family!!
