| CSLI Welcomes 2009! |
2009 started off with a bang as staff and students got together to pop open some traditional refreshments and sing Auld Lang
Syne to bring in the new year. Students were also treated to traditional gifts as we welcomed the Chinese/Korean New Year just
a few weeks later - Kung Hei Fat Choi! The beginning of the year is always an exciting time here at CSLI but 2009 is already
off to an amazing start as over 20 nationalities are represented! Welcome to 2009 and welcome to the world!!

| An international grad to remember! |
What better way to mark the occasion of having so many international students at CSLI than to celebrate with a World Expo graduation!
For January`s graduation ceremony we did just that, with groups from each country setting up booths to introduce their own culture to
their fellow students (and staff as well!). National anthems were sung, dances danced, and traditional foods eaten. It was an amazing
opportunity for us all to get to know each other a little better and understand our differences while finding common ground at the same
time, especially the most important thing we all share...being a part of the unique CSLI family! For more on some of the wonderful events
that make CSLI such a special place to be, check out the link at

Speaking of Friday activities, the academic options available are also still in full swing and helping students to really focus on specific aspects of English conversation including pronunciation, slang,
idioms, and more. One special series that will be starting up in March is our Working in Canada series, designed to help students crack the Vancouver employment market and find a nice job! Classes will
look at applying for SIN numbers, creating attractive resumes, conducting successful interviews, job-searching techniques, and telephone skills. Use these classes to get yourself ready for the big job search!

Second Time at CSLI!
This is my second time at CSLI! And I can summarize these two periods in school, as definitively important to my English knowledge improvement as well as important to help me on some personal and professional achievements. Both
experiences are also resultants of a combined outstanding work between CSLI staff and academic team.
I had been in CSLI as a full time student in August 2005. I spent one month here focusing on improving my English fluency. I took several speaking-academic classes, and I also had an excellent home-stay experience which helped
me to be completely merged in English culture and extended my speaking to evenings and weekends.
The speaking-academic classes also helped me to improve my English to professional abilities such as presentation skills. It made me confident to attend and lead conference calls and international trainings for example. At the end
of the period, I was chosen "the student of the month" and rewarded one more month, totally free at CSLI.
Now, after three years, I am back. I decided to take my awarded month at school improving my grammar skills. I was received in school as if it was my first time here, and this is fabulous at CSLI. Things naturally flowing,
smoothly and professionally.
Studying here, helped me to get personal and professional achievements. One of them I experienced two months ago, when during my MBA enrollment interview, I got the TOEFL waiver from the MBA program director based on my English
background. At least, being back at school has been a huge opportunity to polish my English, meet old friends and enjoy my time in this beautiful Vancouver city.
