CSLI's
Standards Highest of the
High!
 |
| CSLI has
been a member of Languages
Canada
right since its launch in 2008. The goal of
this organization is to guarantee quality by applying rigorous
standards for entrance that apply equally to all Canadian
institutions - big or small, public or private. To qualify, a
school is evaluated in a number of categories: curriculum,
teacher qualifications, student services, student admissions,
marketing, promotion, facilities and administration. The
process takes several weeks, and the compulsory site visit
alone is a two-day process carried out by a trained inspector.
Only the best schools will meet enough of these standards to
gain entry and only a small handful, the best of the best
throughout Canada, are able to achieve Full Accreditation by meeting or exceeding all Languages Canada standards. We are proud to announce that CSLI is
one of these few elite schools who have achieved Full
Accreditation and even prouder of our staff and teachers who
are a big part of our excellence being recognized!

| CSLI
Continues to Care! |
As
has become customary at CSLI, throughout the Summer and into Autumn,
everyone here has been actively involved in a number of fundraising
activities in order to raise money for the cancer research efforts
of the Terry Fox Foundation. Some of the charity events held
included 50/50 lottery draws, mystery box auctions, and the
extremely popular "pie-in-the-teacher`s face" auction.
This event, in particular, brought everyone together for a good
laugh for a great cause! The team spirit among both staff and
students was fantastic and through the efforts of all, over $1,000
was raised for charity. We are so proud of all the staff and
students for their generosity in helping out such a wonderful cause.
Thanks again to all! Good job CSLI for showing that you really do
care!! http://www.csli.com/about_csli/csli_cares.html
*Up next,
CSLI will be helping raise money for Vancouver athlete guide, Jamie
Sterling, who will be partnering with fellow Canadian Alexie
Novikov in cross-country skiing at the 2010 Paralympic Winter
Games next March. Let`s help support Jamie
and Alexie in their quest for Canadian gold!

What an
amazing Summer of CSLI graduation parties we had this year!
Because February 2010 was just too far away, here at CSLI we
brought the Olympics to Vancouver in July!
We had our own version of the Winter Olympics…but in the
sand! Students from over 30 countries were on hand to participate and have a blast in such
events as the winter-clothing relay race and cardboard luge.
Hilarious!! We hit the beach once again in August
for a fantastic picnic party, with a variety of games and
featuring a sandcastle competition that brought out the
creative genius in everyone! And we saw Summer off with a bang
on our September Boat
Cruise with a Love Boat theme that had an air of romance
but ended up having everyone in stitches as we laughed our way
cruising around Vancouver with all of our CSLI friends! Too
much fun! And we`re looking to cap the year off with what are
always amazing Halloween
and Christmas parties at CSLI! Check out some of the awesome pictures of
our graduation events on the CSLI
Flickr page.
Congratulations
as well to all the July, August and September students who won
medals for student of the class and, of course, to our Student
of the Month winners, Beatriz
Roma and Viktor Vlasak of
Brazil in July/August and Soo Jin Park from Korea in September,
who each received a 4-week scholarship to study for free at
CSLI! Way to go!

Look Who`s Talking!

After
attending a conference in downtown Vancouver in September
2006, I discovered something I didn`t know I was looking for:
I want to live in Canada! Consequently, I made the decision to
apply for the skilled worker immigration process. And then my
history in Canada began.
The first step was to polish up my English. Among many ESL
schools in Vancouver, CSLI was my choice due to so many good
recommendations. And it is true! CSLI is amazing. At the
beginning I went there to attend a three month English course
but I recognized that I could learn more. For the reason it is
a great school that provides so many activities, friendly
teachers and a wide range of opportunities to learn English, I
decided to stay in CSLI three more months. After that there
were three more months and three more and so on ... and now I
have studied English along with different kinds of other
activities for a total of more than 14 months all together.
I have CSLI as my second home. The staff is my family and the
friends that I have made there are the "spice" to
make my life even better.
The end of this history (and the beginning of another one ...)
is that I have gotten my Permanent Resident Visa, so, now I
can live in Canada. But for sure without CSLI it would not be
possible at all.
Thank you so much CSLI! You have changed my life forever.
... and see you soon.
