| Glorious Graduations! |
CSLI has had many fantastic graduation parties in the past, but January`s Chef Grad and talent contest was simply amazing!
Congratulations to the Thai group who came in first place. We also had a variety of international celebrities taking part
in the annual Oscar Grad - great job to all students who participated and congrats to the Oscar trophy winners who will
have a wonderful memory to cherish for life. We are very much looking forward to the upcoming spring grad parties including
a Boat Cruise and Hawaiian/Salsa themed event.

Special congratulations also to our winter Students of the Month, recognized for outstanding
achievement among all students at CSLI. Way to go Jin Seong Park from Korea, our December winner, Renata Carneiro Bertazzi
from Brazil, our January winner, and Salome Achatneli from Georgia, our February winner! All three won a one-month scholarship
to continue their studies at CSLI. Great job! |

Canada`s Economic Outlook is Bright: |
Canada`s economy continues to be strong and with the country looking at a serious short-term and long-term shortage of qualified
workers, temporary Work Permits are being issued to qualified foreign workers from various countries. Of course English is a major
requirement for most positions but please check with your local Canadian Consulate for details as these will vary greatly from country
to country. And don't forget that CSLI is the place to be for getting your English ready for visiting and living in Vancouver!

Hey Teachers! |
Once again we have had a successful group of students completing our Teaching English Diploma. This spring we had record number of 30 students completing
the program who can go back to their countries feeling confident about their ability to teach English.
If this is something you have been thinking of
doing - check out our program at www.csli.com/programs/csli_courses.html

Cupid Pays a Visit! |
Another Valentine`s Day has come and gone at CSLI and love was in the air! Well, students and staff alike joined in on a Valentine card search
and exchange held in the CSLI lobby. It was a great opportunity to let that special teacher, staff member, or student know you were thinking of them and the
school was brimming with feelings of love and lifetime friendship!

It`s two years this February until the 2010 Winter Olympics and Vancouver needs volunteers. With CSLI only 200m from the opening ceremony
location, we will be encouraging students to get involved in the Games by designing English programs that allow time to enjoy the events
and festivities. If you are interested, start talking to your friends and become an official volunteer or book your tickets now! Accommodation

CSLI staff ready to be ″Heroes″ |
February got off to a great start here at CSLI, with the staff enthusiastically taking part in a day of learning and improving themselves. The most hilarious hijink involved breaking out a few hip-hop moves as everyone got their groove on to the Superman dance (who says you can`t teach an old dog new tricks?).
It was a good time had by all but valuable lessons were also taken away as well. Among these, an insightful lecture on how to react in medical emergencies was provided by a certified paramedic (Thanks again Eliza!). While no one is ready to go out and perform brain surgery just yet, everyone practiced and became familiar with the proper courses of action to take during a variety of emergencies. So while all necessary precautions are always taken to prevent accidents, CSLI students can take confidence in the fact that all staff members are prepared to help and act as heroes if the need ever arises. Just one more reason to relax and feel comfortable studying here at CSLI!

Look Who`s Talking! |
″I was a student here 4 years ago″... that's probably the sentence I've said the most during my current stay here at CSLI. It's funny because every time I say it I get this "whoa, really?!" reaction from the people around me, I guess it is something important. It must be really shocking and somewhat amusing to hear me saying it because it shows that the place is much more than a simple school. So I'll say it again: I was a student here 4 years ago and I, obviously, don't regret that trip…otherwise I wouldn't be here again.
So how did I decide to come back to CSLI? Well, I started university there in Chile and they told me that it was necessary doing an internship this summer (winter here) and coincidently my aunt that lives in Vancouver visited me the summer before so I told her: HEY GET ME AN INTERSHIP IN VANCOUVER!!! My aunt decided to call the school and she talked with Valeria (I love you boss!!!!) and to make a long story short, I got the internship.
Being part of the staff is SUCH a DIFFERENT experience compared to being a student at CSLI. It is different but just as AMAZING: I have learned a lot of different stuff related to what it takes to make the school work and I have done my best trying to help the students and do what the guys at the front desk and Valeria told me to do and I hope I didn't bother them too much with my stupid sense of humor. So now I'm 3 weeks short of leaving again and JUST like the first time I really don't want to go back to Chile. It's such a great experience and such a different way of learning new stuff and growing as a human being. I'm pretty sure I'll be back in Vancouver one day (hopefully it won't take me another 4 years) to see what new things I can learn from this place.
