| Mr. and Ms. CSLI Contest rocks again!!!!!!!!! |
|
One of CSLI's most entertaining grads took place at the end of November. All the seventeen students were hand-picked
by teachers and staff, represented their countries (and of course themselves) to compete for the coveted position of Mr.
or Ms. CSLI. These outstanding students were required to compete in three different events: modeling, a speech, and a talent.
We had students representing 14 different countries in the contest. Everyone did a wonderful job, but thanks to our diligent
judges, the winners were announced! Mr. CSLI is: Daisuke Tsutsui representing Japan, and Ms. CSLI is: Sareeya Pararuk,
representing Thailand. |
After saying goodbye to our graduating students, we presented awards to the best students in each class. The
Student of the Month Award for the whole school went to Mariana Guzman de la Peza from Mexico, who wins a one-month scholarship
to continue her studies at CSLI. Congratulations! |

| Are you ready to talk in front of a crowd? Many of CSLI's students are. |
Our contest for the month of November was a huge success. Our Speech Contest had a number of enthusiastic participants that with
confidence presented their speech and each received a prize for their participation. After practicing very diligently, the overall
winner was: Julien!!!! Congratulations to all participants and to our winner!

| Academic Class is still a popular choice! |
The Academic Class at CSLI continues to be a very popular choice for those dedicated students who desire to increase their
vocabulary, practice reading comprehension, and brush-up on their grammar knowledge. The class revolves around various readings
on a number of fascinating subjects including: the Serengeti, Golf, Photography, the Internet, Laughter, and Telecommunications.
Each class involves a lively warm-up in order to review vocabulary words and grammar structures already studied, or to preview
the subject for the next reading. Vocabulary is learned by producing lists of synonyms that serve to give students a wealth of
words that they can use in their everyday conversations. Though Academic class is challenging and has homework every night, as
well as weekly quizzes, students say it is a very useful and enjoyable class! Come join us!

How CSLI students have fun in the cold! |
As Winter tightens its grip on beautiful BC, and the snow keeps coming down and the temperature keeps dropping, winter activities
are becoming more popular with our students. November's Ice Skating Activity was led by Nicolle and Kara, and lots of students had their
first experience with a sport that is a common winter hobby in Canada. In December, some of our winter-y activities include a Whistler
Tour, the Van Dusen Festival of Lights, Christmas Carol Listening and Pronunciation Class, Christmas Cooking and movie Class, Making
Gingerbread Houses Class, the Heritage Christmas Museum, and the Christmas Train in Stanley Park. Let's have fun in the snow! Please
