| Contests |
CSLI's monthly contests continue to generate lots of excitement
and effort. July's contest was our popular Pronunciation contest. Congratulations to Klaus from Sweden for having won the contest,
and to all the other students who participated! August will see students work on their Phrasal Verbs, one of the most challenging
aspects of English.
|
| International Groups |
CSLI has been welcoming groups from many different countries this summer. Our returning annual groups from Turkey and Quebec brought
great enthusiasm to our school, while our first tour with the Sayamagaoka High School from Japan helped these high school students
make international friends and improve their English.
If you have a group of people interested in studying at CSLI, please contact
us for information at esl@csli.com for special group rates.

| Wild about Harry and Homer |
CSLI students joined resident Wizard Mark for a showing of the new Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Order of the
Phoenix". Our student wizards learned more about Harry Potter in an academic class that explained the story in the first four
movies and books. Everyone then hopped on their brooms to fly to the local large-screen cinema for the exciting fifth movie
in the series - the best one yet! A few weeks later, a group went to see the Simpsons Movie, after having Simpsonized
themselves (turned themselves into Simpsons-style characters on the movie's website).

| Soccer Team |
CSLI's soccer team has done brilliantly in the league they have been playing in. They have won or tied two-thirds of the games,
and they're going to the playoffs! The players are great, with wonderful teamwork and lots of practice. Our student volunteer Joon
(Jung Hoon) has been a fantastic coach and our cheerleaders are giving strong support. Go, team, go!
|
| Life's A Beach... |
Our July Graduation party was a beautiful picnic at scenic Kitsilano Beach. The sunny weather and ocean view was a stunning backdrop
for a wonderful party to celebrate our departing students and best students of each class.
|
The Student of the Month for the whole
school was Hermann Kramer, who wins a one-month full-time scholarship to continue his studies at CSLI. Lots of games followed a
delicious potato salad and chicken lunch. August's grad party will be our ever-popular boat cruise graduation celebration.

| Dropping By... |
We are always delighted when former students come by to visit CSLI while on trips to Vancouver. We had a few visits by students in
just a few weeks. Jens from 2002 came by, as did Julie from 2004, and Worawat from 2005/6. Former staff members Alex and Charlie also
stopped in for a visit. It is always a pleasure to see former CSLI-ers and hear what they are up to. If you know that you will be in
Vancouver, you can send us a message to say you will be stopping by so that we can be more ready to welcome you - but you are
still welcome when you visit spontaneously!

| Congratulations! |
Our former teacher Jennifer Ward and her husband Michael recently welcomed their baby boy Elias into the world. Our best wishes to
the happy parents and their young one!
