Thar She Cruises…
Our end-of-month graduation party in August was the celebrated Pirates Of the Caribbean Boat Cruise. Our teachers dressed up as pirates for this celebration of over 50 graduating students. After presenting certificates to our departing students, medals were awarded to the top students of each class.

Bon Appetit!
CSLI’s weekly international theme nights are as popular as ever. Over 50 students crowded into a charming Mexican restaurant for Mexican night. With delicious food and drinks, the students were serenaded by live Mexican music and even managed to create a conga line in the very limited space available. Other successful nights included Japanese, German, and Quebecois dinners. September’s dinners will include great international selections: Taiwanese, Italian, Belgian, Turkish, and Thai nights!

Name that Prime Minister, eh!
CSLI held a different contest this month – a Canada Trivia contest. Students had to learn not only essential information about the country where they are studying (“When did Canada become a country?”, “What is the name of Canada’s Prime Minister?”) but also more obscure facts (“How many oceans touch Canada?”, “What Canadian created ‘Superman’?”). It was a tough competition, but the winner was Thomas Bissonette. Congratulations to all the participants! Next month: the Great CSLI Talent Show!

Fall Programs
We are adding some of our more popular specialty programs in October. Our English Through Movies class allows students to improve their vocabulary and idioms through popular movies. Also, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a program that will enable students to learn English teaching skills, thereby improving their vocabulary, grammar, and presentation skills. Please contact esl@csli.com for more information and to register. CSLI’s Corporate Program is also set to start up in October. There are still some spaces available for this exclusive program for business executives looking to improve their real-life experience of Business English in practical situations. Please contact corporate@csli.com for more information.

Look Who’s Talking
CSLI’s former administrator Alexandra Rutherford recently passed through Tokyo on her way to Beijing, where she is studying Business. She had a reunion with many former students in Tokyo. Here’s her report:
The reunion in Tokyo was super cool! There was a good bunch, about 12 of us altogether. Misa put the whole thing together, so kudos to her! The restaurant was funky, with good food. We then continued on to an Izakaya afterwards... The big news is that Mami got married in June to a Japanese guy in the South of France!

Dave and I are in Beijing now, trying to cope as best we can. It's been nothing but an adventure since the moment we arrived, starting with trying to figure out which bus to catch from the airport...Thanks to our buddies we've managed to find an apartment, and we move in at the end of the week. It's very conveniently located near shops, restaurants and the subway, and we'll be able to walk to school in about 20-25 minutes.
I look forward to hearing from you all!
