| Monster Grad |

For our end-of-month party, we had a giant graduation at a local movie theatre.
After saying good-bye to a large number of graduating students, we gave medals to the best student in each class and then the highly-prized Student of the Month award.
March’s winner was Marie-Helene Croteau from Quebec, Canada ; she wins a one-month full-time scholarship to study at CSLI.
After the ceremonies, the CSLI Newspaper was sold, students were served a lunch, and we watched the big movie hit King Kong.

Theme Nights
Our dinner nights at CSLI in March were an amazing international experience for our students. They had a chance to try Quebec, Libyan, Turkish, Hungarian, and Japanese food.
For Quebec Night, Marie-Helene and her crew of Quebecers prepared dishes that all featured maple syrup. They even brought a large container of snow from the mountains so that everyone could try making maple candy by pouring hot syrup on snow! The printed menus also featured important information about this part of Canada.

Turkish night was organized by our student Selen Evliaoglu and held in the house of our February 2000 Student of the Month Demet Sesli. A huge crowd turned out for this home-cooked meal of Turkish delicacies…It was a delight indeed. The turnout for dinners has been tremendous, and will no doubt increase. April will feature Korean, German, and Chinese nights. |

Idioms Contest Our monthly contests give our English students a chance to practice their language skills. CSLI’s contest for March was Idioms. A large number of students participated while the rest of the school followed along, learning from their peers’ language use. The competition was fierce, and in the end, the grand prize winner was Mika Himeno from Japan, with Jan Ucuzal from Turkey coming in second after having prepared for only one week, and Christin Hong from Korea running a close third! Congratulations to all the participants! In April – Spelling! |

| St Patrick’s Day |
| Although St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish celebration, it is popular all over the world. To celebrate at CSLI, all the staff (and many students) dressed in green. Many students attended the parade on Sunday afternoon, experiencing this international holiday in Canadian AND Irish style. |

| Spring has sprung |
| Warm weather has come to Vancouver, and we are enjoying our sunny days with Friday Activities and class outings. We have once again started our Sports Days – Basketball on Mondays, Tennis on Tuesdays, and Soccer on Wednesdays. It’s a great way to get some exercise and meet friends while practicing English! |

| Nice to see you again… |
Just because you graduate doesn’t mean you have to leave your CSLI experience behind. So many students make great friends from their own country and other countries, and arrange trips and meetings after their graduation. For example, a group of students from 2004 are holding a reunion in Germany in May. Also, the directors will be in Germany for the World Cup and are having a reunion in Frankfurt in June. We are in the process of creating a Reunion page for our website so that we can show pictures from these reunions. If you wish to advertise your reunion on the site, you will be able to do so. Keep your eyes open...and keep in touch with your friends.
Speaking of reunions… |

Hello everybody!!
It's Mami from Japan, the one who is crazy about the traveling in Latin America :-)
A surprising message was left on my mobile phone, which was that Mark was in Tokyo! Then Mark A, Mark K, Akiko, Eriko, Jiro and I had a small CSLI reunion at Shibuya in Tokyo on Mar.13th. Are you envious?
First of all, I would like to say thank you very much to Lori-Ann for providing the beer for our party! Next, I would like to let all you guys know that CSLI members can share a great time even after we graduated, even not in Canada. I'm always looking forward to hearing any news, so I do appreciate that Mark often makes the chance for us to talk with each other in his favorite area, Shibuya.
I have one big piece of news which is…I got married on March 4th. I'm sorry that my husband is too shy to let me show you his picture. But some of you will see him in the near future because we are seriously considering going to Canada.
I'm very glad that I could talk to you guys here.
Thank you, everybody, and special thanks to Mark!
Hope to see you all soon!
Big hugs
xoxo

| Look Who’s Talking |
Our former teacher Randy recently wrote to us from his new home in Toronto:
I'm in Toronto, teaching at a private school. We're starting up a training program here that will train teachers from all over North America in the International Baccalaureate program (kind of a high school diploma program that is accepted worldwide).
Other than that, I've been working on a young adult novel, a la Harry Potter. If I ever had time, I would try to get it published, because someday it actually WILL make the millions I dream of. Until then, it must sit on my computer. If you know anybody in the publishing industry, please let me know.
It's nice to see that CSLI is still doing well. With the Olympics headed to Vancouver, I can only imagine the great business that you're going to do. You guys certainly deserve it, because you've built a good program and worked hard to keep it going. I'm impressed and I hope you guys continue to reap the rewards of your hard work.
We plan on eventually settling in Vancouver again someday, so the next time I'm out there, I'll pop in to say hi. Good luck!
Randall
