The Vancouver Golden Experience Continues

Mr. Toshiaki Kakinuma, his wife and Masato Shimizu
It's never too late… That's why we have the Vancouver Golden Experience program, which encourages seniors to study English. This month, we were pleased to welcome Mr. Toshiaki Kakinuma, who has written books under the pen name Shuichi Sae about his experiences studying English for the first time as a senior. Mr. Kakinuma came with his wife and staff, including Keiichi Morimoto, Chairman of the America Village Merchant's Association and his wife Kazuko and Masato Shimizu a Japanese TV/Radio producer. Our VGE program features English lessons in the mornings and activities around Vancouver in the afternoons. Our students were able to watch Mr. Sae's kendo demonstration at a local community centre before enjoying a night of delicious Japanese food. Our Vancouver Golden Experience is a winning program for the whole school!
Summer Is Just Around The Corner!

As the summer approaches, the temperature has been rising, as has student enrollment. Summer is the most popular time at CSLI, so if you are thinking of coming, please get in touch with us now to guarantee your placement. Our Friday Activities have been gearing students up for the upcoming festive season in Vancouver, with African Drumming being a big winner, along with a hike and lunch at the Directors' house and Rollerblading & Cycling around Stanley Park. Upcoming activities include Tennis Lessons, a Steveston Tour with Fish & Chip Lunch, Shannon Falls Day Trip, and the ever-popular Horseback Riding.
Bang a Drum! African Drumming

Boat Cruise Grad
One of our most popular graduation parties is the Boat Cruise, when we take a two-hour cruise around beautiful Vancouver. Before we set sail, we said goodbye to a great many graduating students and presented awards for the best students of each class. The much-desired Student of the Month Award was presented to Shinsuke Nakajima from Japan. His outstanding work in school and participation in extra-curricular activities earns him a one-month full-time scholarship at CSLI. After the award ceremonies, the boat set sail as students danced and took photos of the scenic backdrops that Vancouver has to offer.

New Advanced Academic Program
CSLI is proud to announce our new Advanced Academic Program. This course focuses on reviewing basic grammar skills for more advanced students, while also developing reading comprehension, practical use of grammar points in conversation, and writing. Every day, the teacher uses the students' own writing to illustrate grammar points and natural sentence structure. This is the ideal class for comfortably fluent students who want to improve their foundation in English. .

Look who's talking
Hello, CSLI! from Ji Wan (Jay) Song - 2003/2004

Hello Everyone!

I'm very fine, even though my work is getting harder.

These days, I usually spend time on my favorite hobby, which is playing baseball.
I joined a baseball club in my company; it is very fun. It is really satisfied with my wish. As you know, I'm crazy about all kinds of sports, especially baseball. I bought a new uniform, shoes and gloves, so I'm going to live poor the rest of this month. :)

It's getting hot and humid in Korea; it means summer is coming. I heard it will be hottest year in ten years. I want to be in Vancouver...or Alaska :)

Anyway, keep up the good work and have a great time.

I miss you all.

Jay
