New Website!
CSLI's beautiful new website is up and running! We have had a lot of positive feedback about our colourful new site, which lists programs and current activities offered as CSLI, and whole lot more.

AUGUST 2005 Newsletter
Canadian Idol
This month at CSLI we had our annual talent show. Our resident MC Paul led a smooth presentation of musical treats for a full-house audience!

We had many participants from all over the world, and because everyone did a great job, we couldn't choose a winner - all the performances were great!

Congratulations to all the participants for their great work!

TOEIC Scores Soar

Every month we write the official TOEIC exam at CSLI. Our new TOEIC Preparation Course has been very popular with all of the hard working students who need to go home after their course and find a job.

This month the top score in both sections of the test was from Eriko Odagiri from Japan. Special recognition also goes to Kevin and Kelly for their lively competition - they both achieved the next highest scores in each section! Big congratulations on all your hard work!

Summer Time and the weather is HOT!
Free Friday activities were back outdoors this month as the summer sun shone! The most popular were a BC Lions football game, Bowen Island tour, Canoeing at Deer Lake, day at the water slides, and of course our big graduation.
This month we had a special Hawaiian Party Grad, including fire eating and dancing Hawaiian girls!

The Student of the Month award for July went to Yuta Shimizu from Japan, an outgoing student and musician who won a four-week scholarship to CSLI!

Big Congratulations to Yuta and his distinctive hairstyle!

Great Balls of Fire
The annual Celebration of Light fireworks competition started this month in Vancouver with a huge group of the CSLI population attending. The nights were memories to be remembered and all involved had a great time. Congratulations to those students who made it to class on time the day after the events!

Attention Corporate Managers!
We are now accepting a few more applications for our corporate program starting October 3, 2005.

This is a special program designed for high-level English-speaking managers who want to improve their communication skills.

We are happy to have this class almost full already with our Quebec, German, and Dutch applications!

Family
We are thrilled to announce the birth of two special babies. Miki Barria, our former Japanese counselor, recently came to CSLI with her new baby girl. Miki and her husband Andres came back to Vancouver for the birth of their baby Honami Azul, before returning to their new home in Puerto Vallarta. Also, our popular teacher Grace just gave birth to her second child, a beautiful baby girl Jacqueline.

Congratulations to all the parents and their families!

Look who's talking

This month's letters come from two students, Vinicius Matos Nhedo and Midori Tanikawa

Hi everybody from CSLI,

I was in CSLI just for a month in July 2001 and every time that I receive an e-mail from you, I really miss that short enjoyable time. Now I´m married and I hope to go back to Vancouver and CSLI with my wife to improve my English and have fun too.

Thanks for everything,
Vinicius Matos Nhedo
São Paulo - Brazil

I'm Midori Tanikawa,
who graduated from CSLI spring in 2000.

Last night I was really surprised when I was watching TV because Lawrence and Lori-Ann were on NHK, Japanese broadcast association. The TV program name's "EIGO DE SHABERANAITO", which means "Let's speak English!" The guest last night was Ms. Harumi Kurihara. I'd heard that she was a student at CSLI before, so that was no surprise that you guys were on TV. I was just happy to see you guys.

If you have a chance, please check it out!

Well, please take care and hopefully see you next month. I am planning to go to Vancouver next month. I haven't bought a flight ticket though. Hahaha!

Love,
Midori
