CSLI Student Cycles from Alaska to Argentina!
Chrystine Chrystine Roy, CSLI student from Quebec has now reached California on her quest to raise money for the Children's Wish Foundation.  She says she is taking it easy. "I think I deserve it after already 4 months on the road.  It's crazy, time fills so fast. I have already covered 6300 km...only 20,000 km more to go...  barely nothing.  I'm leaving San Francisco today and will follow the coast all the way to the Mexican border.  I should be there in 3-4 weeks. Thanks for mentioning me in your newsletter". We will be updating you with her progress and her route through Latin America and if any of our past CSLI students live nearby, please try
and catch up with her. She would really appreciate some local support and hospitality.

New CSLI and CanadaWide a Big Success in Victoria
CEWN Partners
CSLI, along with our CanadaWide partners proved very popular with agents at this month's CEC Agent Fair in Victoria.  Interest and sales have doubled again this year and CanadaWide is attracting students who are wanting to combine English study with travel across Canada, long and short-term. The Fly-For-Free (between our schools) package now offers new programs, including the CanadaWide Academic option (for students wanting to study long term, 3 to 6 months at different schools) and a 5-Star Special (2 and 4 week programs at all five schools with spectacular off-season rates). These packages will be officially released in two weeks on the new CanadaWide website.

New CSLI Opens Feb 2001
Construction is well underway at the new downtown CSLI location in Yaletown.  Classes will begin in the new facility in February and current students will be given campus tours during December to get used to the new location and bus routes.  Please note that our school at suite 88-1155 Robson Street will close down
at the end of January 2001, but classes will not be affected during this change. New brochures are being printed and all changes will be on our website.

Turkish Student Sets Great Example at CSLI
Student of the MonthHelin Erdogdu of Ankara was the recipient of CSLI's November 2000 Student of the Month award.  Her caring, outgoing and helpful personality, along with her diligence as a student  made her a clear choice for this award.  We look forward to having her return for our 10th year anniversary in 2002 and wish her all the best with the remainder of her studies!  Thanks also goes to Helin's agent, Demet, for sending us such a great student!

International Cuisine Graduation
International Cuisine At this month's graduation, students were treated to a wonderful variety of foods when our head chefs, one from each country represented at CSLI, cooked up their ethnic specialties.  In all, 15 countries offered their special dishes for others to try and taught them to ask for a sample in their own language.  It was our one day a year when no English is allowed!  CSLI offers a different themed graduation at the end of each month, in which all students participate together.  Watch for an update on next month's celebrations, which will be a Christmas lunch held at the Directors' home!

All These for Free...
of many great reasons to study at CSLI is that we take both study and play seriously!  CSLI students all have the opportunity to enjoy Vancouver by going on excursions, trying new sports and crafts, seeing the sights, learning about our multicultural city, taking in the arts and spectator events all for free!  In November we offered these free Friday activities:  going to an IMAX movie, visiting an art gallery, Planetarium & Space Centre tour, Vancouver Grizzlies basketball game, pub night, bowling & billiards, kickboxing lessons, pottery painting class, Singaporean lunch, guitar lesson and t-shirt painting class among several other choices.  Academic choices included:  public speaking class, resume writing & interview skills class and business telephone skills class.

CSLI Students Get Involved
A big part of our students' study experience is that they have the opportunity to experience special holidays, as well as take part in the Canadian way of life.  Remembrance Day brought Ms. Joanne Walter from the Vancouver Poppy Fund to CSLI, who gave us all insight into this meaningful day.  CSLI students also opened their hearts to less fortunate children by donating a toy to the Children's Christmas Wish Fund in exchange for a wonderful breakfast at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which got everyone in the holiday spirit with its beautiful Christmas decor.

See you next month!
