This is that time of the year that Oscar makes his appearance and this year’s Oscar Graduation was better than ever! Continuing the Tsunami Effort...
CSLI is coordinating with many schools around Canada in the "Friendship Band" campaign. This exciting new project has been designed specifically for adoption by Elementary and High schools. It is a structured program of where each school gets to choose its micro level cause, raise funds, and monitor its progress through our online updates. All money raised will go the survivors of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka. For more information in getting involved, please check the website
www.unitingtheworld.org

Speech Contest...
The contest was to write and present a speech. All levels gave speeches in their class, and the winners went on to the semi finals giving their speeches in front of everyone from their level. The final winner was Christiane Sluka from Germany, with Rie Sato from Japan taking second place. Congratulations to all the courageous contestants who were brave enough to take part in this challenging competition.

Spring came early...
Last month we have had some of the warmest days in the history of Vancouver. To take advantage of this amazing weather we have been taking our classes out to enjoy the city. Some of the outings have included the Sports Hall of Fame, tours of popular Canadian businesses like Sage Aromatherapy and Casa Gelato, the Stanley Park Farm, the YMCA, and the Lynn Valley Ecology Center. Our Free Friday activities will help to enjoy the weather in March, including tours of Whistler, Bowen Island, and Chinatown, as well as Biking and Rollerblading.

Welcome to Libya
CSLI’s population of Libyan students has increased significantly in recent months, and we were honored to hold a flag-raising activity to add their flag to our lobby’s international collection of flags. Our Libyan students were led by Khaled Jebril Abuzayan in a beautiful presentation of Libyan culture, food, and music for all to enjoy.

Valentine’s Day kisses...and more
This year, once again, CSLI sold Valentines cards for students to address to their friends (and more). We then attached a chocolate "kiss" to each and every card and on Valentine's morning, all the students hunted for their cards all over CSLI. Other sweet events at CSLI include Monday morning doughnuts that we are providing for all students at the start of the week. More sweetness is in store in March with our much-anticipated Easter Egg Hunt, where chocolate eggs are hidden all over the school.

Look Who’s Talking
Last month we started a regular feature of letters from past students. If you feel to share comments about your time at CSLI with us, please write to students@csli.com.

Well it is probable that you forgot us (me and my brother), but I'll try to bring your memory back…I went with my brother Darío García in January 2001. We were there for a month and we enjoyed our English course so much! We talk about CSLI always with everybody: friends, parents...

Sincerely we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts and tell you that we never forget that month, and we kept the faith to go back soon and visit the new campus!

We met several friends there; some of them are on the CSLI home page, like Melanie, Esteban, Marucia, and others...we keep in touch with other CSLI students too, like Dante from Argentina.

I send a picture of us in CSLI (Robson Street).

With love,
Marisol and Dario García of Argentina.

Best wishes from your friends at CSLI,

Lawrence & Lori-Ann Keenan
