Idiom Contest "Rocks"
CSLI's annual idioms contest was "a blast". We had many contestants from all over the world. They have been "hard at it" for weeks, trying to "brush up" on their idiom skills. So this month’s newsletter is full of idioms for you to practice. The winner "who cleaned up" this year was Sylvain Beaulieu from Canada and Alejandra Rojas Garcia from Mexico. They both won a "wheel of a deal" prize package for their hard work. Congratulations!!

Aboriginal Issues "Cleared Up"
Our special guest speaker this month was Vince Gagog. He came to CSLI to talk about the issues concerning the local Aboriginal natives in Canada. He gave an informative presentation and gave the students a new perspective on things.

Halloween "Bash"
This month, we had a big Halloween celebration. Break games included: bobbing for apples, Halloween Bingo, limbo contest and much more. The big graduation was a "night of all nights" as everyone got "decked out" in their sexy, scary, and bizarre costumes for our big grad and nightclub party, which was "a hoot". The winner of the Best Costume Award was Mr. Mr. Masafumi Hasegawa from Japan and he received $100 CASH as a prize! The second Costume Award went to Mr. Seiji Suzuki, and he won a bicycle donated by Mr. Jean Eric Turcotte from Quebec, Canada. The October 2004 student of the month was Mr. Lior Koresh from Israel! He wins a four-week scholarship to CSLI. Congratulations!

English Through Movies
A specialty class that returned this month is English Through Movies. In this class, students practice their listening, vocabulary, and idiom skills by watching movies. They study one movie per week and by the end of the week they have “mastered" the movie. Another popular class this month was TESOL. We produced a new batch of English teachers. These students were trained in teaching English do they can go home and "spread their wings" with their new skills. Our other specialty classes: Intermediate TOEIC, Advanced TOEIC, Academic as well as Listening/Pronunciation were all full. Starting shortly is our new Executive Programs for Professionals. Contact CSLI for details.

Special thanks to our CESI Group
Many large groups visit CSLI from all over the world and this month we had the pleasure of welcoming a group from France. We want to express our special thanks for choosing CSLI. The students came here to improve their skills and to write the official TOEIC Exam. Special congratulations for following the "English Only" policy during their stay. Their TOEIC scores reflected how hard they studied. Well done everyone! http://www.csli.com/programs/index.html#business

Upcoming November Events
As the summer season comes to an end and the snow begins to fall, our November events include: Presentations for Remembrance Day, Vocabulary Contest, Mexican Night, German Night, Popcorn and Movies Night and International Chef’s Day Graduation Party!
