CSLI March 2004 Newsletter

The Martha Stewart of Japan came to study at CSLI this month, taking a break from her TV show, magazine and 20 shops to brush up on her English. We all had a great time showing her the city and we look forward to reading about CSLI in the June edition of Suteki Recipe. Thanks to her staff for entertaining all of us.

St. Patrick's Day contest
Many students warmed up their voices for us and sang at our annual karaoke contest on St. Patrick's Day. This is the day we celebrate the Irish and wear green to give us good luck for the rest of the year. Great job to all of our singers and congratulations to the winner Ken Nonogaki from Japan, who won a basket of prizes.

This month's graduation party was back by popular demand and our students from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Quebec, Japan, Korean Mexico, Saudi Arabia Spain, Taiwan, Hungary and Vietnam became chefs for the day. The winner of best decorated table was Japan, who won $100 cash and everyone was on had to congratulate our Student of the Month for March, Kotoko Tanikawa of Japan, who won a 4 week scholarship at CSLI.

Skiing anyone?!!!

Some of our most popular FREE Friday activities this month were Whistler, Skiing at Grouse Mountain, Biking around Stanley Park, Sushi making class, Native Indian Jewelry making class, Golfing, MTV TV show taping. Coming up in April, some of our Friday Activities will be African Drumming class, Tennis lessons, Getting your hair cut, Horseback riding, Mexican lunch, Guitar lessons, Buddhist temple tour and many more

"CSLI Dormitory Rocks"

As the only attached Dormitory in Vancouver, the CSLI dormitory has been full all spring and only a few spaces left for the next few months. Here are a few comments from some of the guests that have stayed in the residence recently. Izumi said: "I'm glad to get acquainted with many foreigners. With them, I went shopping, cooked and it was good for me to choose the dorm." Felix said: "The kitchen is great!!"
