Mr. and Ms. CSLI
CSLI had its big graduation party at a restaurant this month and bought lunch for over 200 students while they were all entertained by our big Mr and Ms CSLI contest. Congratulations to all of our contestants from around the world who did an amazing job at modeling, joke telling, showing a talent, and reading a love poem. The $100 first prizes went to Jairo Carrasco from the Dominican Republic and Carla Romero from Bolivia. Also, congratulations to July's Student of the Month, Clarice Souza from Brazil, who won a 4-week scholarship to CSLI.

100 Days of Summer!
Summer events in 2004 will be the greatest ever! Visit our website for the latest things to do in Vancouver this summer, including many free things that most people don't know about! Incredible annual events include the Festival of Fireworks in English Bay (from July 29), the Molson Indy motor race, the Pride Parade, Theatre Under the Stars, free bus rides and dance lessons in Stanley Park, free concerts, and walking and guided architectural tours of the city. Go to our website for our report on Vancouver's Best Kept Secrets http://www.tourismvancouver.com/docs/visit/things_to_do.html. Agents are welcome to copy this report to promote CSLI and Vancouver.

Another Successful TESOL Diploma Class
CSLI is once again uniting the world with English by training future English teachers with our TESOL program. The TESOL students learn everything from classroom management techniques to ways to assess learners and monitor their progress. They practice teaching a varied level of students and learn numerous games and activities which can be used in the classroom. Congratulations to the past and near- future graduates who will be teaching English to students in their home countries of Argentina, Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, Germany, and Korea!

Mothers Against Drunk Driving
One of our many guest speakers this month was from M.A.D.D. It was a fascinating talk to help our students understand the consequences of drinking after you have had even just one drink. I am sure none of the people listening will ever drink and drive after hearing the stories from our speaker.

Thursdays theme nights were big hits!
Our Thursday theme nights have been huge successes in July. The students have been trying very hard to make this event better each week. Congratulations to all the students who have done a great job organizing these events. Special thanks to Clarice and Luiza for bringing Latin energy to CSLI students at the Brazilian night, and extra compliments for Jeannie (Jin Hong), Michi (Jee Hoon) for a fantastic Korean night that had more than 90 students enjoy a Korean BBQ!

Open Hearts for Children in Need
Many fundraising events happened this month, as we are sponsoring one of our homestay families again this summer on their annual journey to Mexico to help an orphanage. We are also raising money to send books and school supplies to a school in the Philippines. August fundraisers will include many Olympic events to raise money for other charities.
