Live on Japan Radio!
Famous radio personality Ryohei SakurabaSeptember 3rd was an exciting day as CSLI hosted a live broadcast to Japan radio stations promoting Vancouver and studying English at CSLI. Special thanks to Tourism Vancouver, famous radio personality Ryohei Sakuraba and his and his crew from Nippon Hoso for coming all this way for the broadcast. Sunset dinner at the directors' homeThis is a joint promotion with JTB, Tourism Vancouver and Canadian College of English Language for our new Golden Experience package for senior students that include half-time study and then cultural activities in the afternoon with Canadians. After a day of classes, salsa lessons, and a flight to Victoria, everyone was invited for sunset dinner at the directors' home at the end of the day.

Free Summer Activities!
As the hot summer days and nights continue in Vancouver, our free activities every Friday are as usual, the highlights of the month. Favourite events in August included Canoeing at Deer Lake, touring the ice fields in Whistler, Harrison Hot Springs tour, and our bi-monthly hike and lunch at the owners and directors home (Lori-Ann cooked and Lawrence tour guided) were the most popular activities. For September, students may choose free extra study classes or Rollerblading or Biking Stanley Park, Whistler daytrip, Granville Island beer tour, Make-Up lessons, Gastown and Chinatown tours and over 30 other choices. On September 19th we celebrate our latest graduates with the famous CSLI Boat Cruise around English Bay!

Cool Grad and Hot Treats:
Student of the MonthThe sun shone every Friday in August except the 3 hours of graduation that we were supposed to be on the beach. Instead, we had our barbeque lunch and ceremony at the school, and then we treated all the students to a bowling tournament competition after. Also graduating this month was our beloved Head Teacher, Keith Enns. Keith and his wife have decided to move back to Saskatchewan for the winter to build a house for their family. We wish then both all the best and hope to see them again in the spring. Congratulations to our August Student of the Month winner: Richard Miodek from Germany.

Pronunciation & Listening Tops!
Our newest program has become an immediate success with students this summer and is quickly becoming the most popular program at CSLI. All students receive a tape of all the listening exercises they have studied so they can return home and keep practicing their skills. We are also accepting new applications for the TESL diploma program for October. We have been full for this program for the entire summer.

In-school Dormitory Available Now!
Starting this month (September 27/28) we have room available at our popular dormitory, located downtown at CSLI. Close to all the action in a safe, trendy part of Vancouver, and you don't have to spend time or money on any traveling! Book early as we have limited space available. Student nationalities are mixed to make sure this remains an English experience!

Job Shadowing Experience:
Another great summer of placements by CSLI for some of our business students. We have had our most successful summer of internships ever. Some of the companies we have placed with this month are: Siemens, Bosch Rexroth Canada, Mexicana, Maximizer Software Inc., Swiss Medica, Johnsen Stone Accounting, Colour Energy, Seatrade Shipping Ltd., Waves Magazine, Working TV and Key West Travel & Tours. Special thanks to all the companies CSLI works with for giving our students a great chance to be part of your companies.
