CSLI fundraising efforts for Terry Fox!
CSLI held its 12th annual fundraising auction to contribute to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. Thanks to the students’ and staff’s generosity whose 12 year total is over $12000! Thank you to the Clare Adams, the Provincial Director of BC/Yukon division of the Foundation for coming to speak to us, homestay families for the generous donations for the auction, and to the students, teachers and staff who showed up to do the 10 km run for making this fundraiser such a success.

We are coming to Japan!
The Director of CSLI will be coming to Japan at the end of October for our big promotion with Vancouver Tourism. This tour will be promoting “The Golden Experience” which will be encouraging the mature students to come to Canada and CSLI. So past students, bring your parents, aunts and uncles to our seminars:

Graduation cruise!
The weather was perfect for our huge graduation ceremony and party aboard the MV Burrard Queen. Over 50 students graduated from CSLI and then all the students enjoyed a scenic cruise. Hiroyuki Kobayashi was chosen as the September Student of the Month and received one month of free full time English classes at CSLI. Hiro is an energetic student who works hard in class and participates in extracurricular activities. He is a member of the CSLI soccer team and organized a Japanese cultural night dinner for over 80 students! Way to go, Hiro!

CSLI Olympics
To complement the morning Olympics curriculum, the teachers organized a week of crazy and fun “Olympic” contests during break times including: a bubble gum blowing, pie eating contest, spelling, water balloon toss and spelling bee. We are all very excited about the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics here in Vancouver.

Safety presentations
The afternoon theme for our September bonus week was “Emergency” and a guest speaker from the Fire Department came to give a memorable presentation to the whole school about earthquake preparedness. Also, a real live Mountie came to talk to students about safety and the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). Guest speakers and class outings are always part of the CSLI curriculum as they teach real, practical English and keep classes exciting!

In-school Dormitory Available Now!
Starting this month (September 27/28) we have room available at our popular dormitory, located downtown at CSLI. Live close to all the action in a safe, trendy part of Vancouver, and you don't have to spend time or money on traveling! Book early as we have limited space available. Student nationalities are mixed to make sure this remains an English experience!
