Chefs from over 20 countries
Chef's from around the world.Spring is here in Vancouver and more adventure activities like horseback riding were popular choices with students as part of their Student of the MonthFree Friday activity program. Other free April Friday activities included: Scuba Diving, Going to a TV show, going to a restaurant for lunch, and of course our famous "Chef's from around the world graduation". To make this month's graduation a success, we nominated a student leader from each of the more than 20 countries now studying at CSLI, and gave the leaders money to go out and prepare a dish from their country for all students to try. All the chefs did an amazing job and a big congratulations goes out to our Student of the Month for April: Seiko Nakayama who wins a one month scholarship to CSLI.

Chocolates and the Easter Bunny...
Easter Winner.Egg Hunt.Unbeknown to us, the Easter Bunny this year surprised the CSLI students with an Easter Egg Hunt. Hundreds of eggs were hidden all over the school, and at our morning break the students ran out into the school lobby to try to collect as many chocolate eggs as they can. The student who collected the most chocolate eggs was Yeo Jin, who then also won a big chocolate bunny. CSLI was closed Friday and Monday for students to celebrate Easter. We hope that all our students, agents and homestays had a safe and happy Easter.

VANCOUVER REMAINS SAFE TO STUDY
Classes at CSLI remain unaffected and despite taking safety precautions, we wish to assure students , homestays and agents that it is business as usual. In fact, student registrations are already up this year and expected to be another record high! Before CSLI accepts students from any affected country, they are asked to have their health checked before they begin classes or homestays. Immigrations Canada is also being careful to ensure that Vancouver remains a safe city to study in and people do not walk around with masks. Toronto, 4500 kms away, has recently received unfair international publicity, despite appearing to have SARS cases well under control. Canada remains one of the safest places to live and has one of the most efficient, free health care systems in the world.

CanadaWide Opens Central Office
Benjamin Sherren, our International Business Manager.Great news: CanadaWide is opening it's own Central booking office! We are proud to introduce Benjamin Sherren as our International Business Manager who has had sound experience in the education industry. Students and agents can now book for all CanadaWide schools at one place and can get most of their questions answered about our different programs and schools. For best attention, students wanting to register at one of our schools should continue to contact the desired school directly. CSLI is a founding school of the CanadaWide Network which now has 7 locations across Canada; it's most popular feature is the Fly-for-Free package which allows students free travel between our schools of their choice.

CSLI Promotes "Stay at School"
The Directors' Group. The Directors of CSLI recently participated in a campaign at Canadian schools to encourage young Canadians to "stay at school" longer. Lawrence Keenan was one of the contributors from the business community teaching 12-14 year olds at Balmoral School in North Vancouver last week. Here students are encouraged to go to University and continue with higher education to improve their choice of careers and life opportunities. CSLI teachers and staff are also involved in this Junior Achievement program sponsored by corporations in British Columbia. http://www.csli.com/csli_cares.htm

Best wishes from your friends at CSLI,

Lawrence & Lori-Ann Keenan
