10th Anniversary Reunion Just Around the Corner!

August Graduation on the High Seas.
Boat cruise grad ceremony.

September marks the nearing of our very exciting reunion months beginning November and finishing the end of December of this year. We have had many students, both former Students of the Month and alumni, confirm their attendance. If you would like to see a list some of these students in order to get in touch with them (many wrote by traditional mail, as they don't have e-mail), please connect to our link at: http://www.csli.com/returning/index.html. There you can find the e-mail contacts of your past CSLI pals whom you can meet again, if you join us this fall/winter. If you have any questions regarding the reunion, please do contact us at: reunion@csli.com If you are a Student of the Month who has already confirmed your attendance, please contact Jennifer Barker again, ASAP, so that she can finalize the details of your flight ticket with you. If you are a former Student of the Month or a CSLI alumni who has not yet contacted us about the reunion but would like to come, please do so immediately as we are slowly finalizing the last of our details and attendance. In fact, our exciting Reunion Calendar of Events has been planned and we are looking forward to two great months of events to spend together. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!

CSLI's on campus residence.Residence Special Offers
Although CSLI's residence is nearly filled for the fall/winter months of October to December, there are still a few spaces left. For any students returning to CSLI for our 10th anniversary reunion, please contact us regarding special offers for you to stay in the dormitory. It will give you an opportunity to be closer to all the action of the events taking place and you will be among the first to experience living in our beautiful new facility. Contact us at: residence@csli.com for more information on the special offer.

Special Invitation to Agents
Are you a CSLI representative who actively works with our school and are planning a visit to Vancouver soon? If so, we would like to extend a special offer to you, of accommodation in CSLI's on-site residence during the months of October, November or December free of charge!! We are happy to have anyone who is in town for shorter stays of 1-3 nights, have a first-hand opportunity to see & 'live' in CSLI's residence. It is a sure way to confidently recommend our facility to your clients. This offer is subject to availability and we recommend contacting us as far in advance as possible in order to make arrangements.

August Graduation on the High Seas!
Student of the Month.Last month's graduation was a blast as CSLI's summer students enjoyed a boat cruise along False Creek, around Vancouver and up the Burrard Inlet. Our Student of the Month award, the last to be given before CSLI's upcoming 10th anniversary reunion, was presented to Ms. Veronika Simeth of Germany. We congratulate her once again on being such a wonderful presence in our school, as a leader and supporter to other students. She will join our other award winners in the months of November & December for our 10th year celebrations. Please check our webpage http://www.csli.com/bulletinboard8.htm for previous year's winners.

Volleyball for a Great CauseVolleyball for a Great Cause .
CSLI students showed great spirit in forming a fabulous volleyball team (led by Veronika Simeth) which participated in a tournament organized for the purpose of extending financial support to Ms. Ji Won Park (a distressed student from another ESL school). In fact, CSLI's team members were finalists and came in a close second to the tournament winners. We applaud them, as well as our cheerleaders for their great participation! We also thank all of our students who donated, as well as bought lunches in our lunch box auction and ice-cream sale, the proceeds of which went to this special cause. http://www.csli.com/bulletinboard10.htm

Learning How to Speak Publicly
CSLI students had the opportunity to learn how to be good speakers - public speakers that is - when our guests from Toast Masters International came to give our Intermediate and Advanced level students tips on how to speak successfully. We thank the Toast Masters speakers for taking the time to pass on their advice and expertise in an area which tends to be a challenge for most people, let alone speakers of another language. Good luck to all our students too, in being more outspoken!

Cultural Nights a Big Success!
Among many events that take place on a weekly basis at CSLI, is our Thursday night cultural nights. August saw a record attendance at our Taiwanese Night, with our former Student of the Month, Chris, leading the activity with an attendance of nearly the entire school! A special room was arranged at the Floata Restaurant (Jen, pls check) in which well over 150 students enjoyed an authentic Taiwanese meal! Other cultural nights in August were: Japanese night, Portuguese night and Vietnamese night. Each one is hosted by a student of the nationality being honored, which gives our students the opportunity of learning more about one another's cultures. They are always a big success and a lot of fun!

Best wishes from your friends at CSLI,

Lawrence & Lori-Ann Keenan
