Reunion Gala Evening!
Reunion Gala Evening. Our 10th year celebrations officially got underway with our wonderful Gala Evening, in the first of two special reunion months. Students of the Month, Ambassadors, current and former staff, homestay families, suppliers, agents, Yaletown neighbours, friends and associates all enjoyed an evening of great food & drinks, wonderful music with famous Brasilian musician Celso Machado, sharing good times and catching up on CSLI memories from the last 10 years. Special locally crafted medallions were awarded to our returning Students of the Month and Ambassador winners as well as to past staff members who returned this special night, to honour them. Our love and best wishes go out to all our former students & staff who could not join us - we were thinking of you all! We also thank all friends and associates who sent beautiful flowers and gifts to mark this very special occasion!

Dining at the Directors Home!
A special intimate dinner at Lori-Ann and Lawrence'sDining at the Directors Home. home was arranged for our returning Student of the Month award winners from 1995 to 1999. This was a chance for these students to meet and share their past experiences and future goals. The night ended wonderfully with fireworks and a chauffeured limousine ride home over Lions Gate Bridge and through Stanley Park. It was a fabulous evening of lots of laughs, memories and even a few tears.

First Reunion Arrivals!

In the two weeks since our first group of Students of the Month have arrived, we have already enjoyed a great number of special evenings, including: airport and arrival greetings, a welcome pub night, a Halloween dress-up on Oct 31st, a sleep-over at the school and special cultural theme nights led by our returning Students of the Month, including Taiwanese night (organized by Miriam Tsai) and Spanish night (organized & led by Yolanda Paredes). Upcoming evenings include: Brazilian night (hosted by Carlos Magno Santos & Rosani Lopes), Hungarian night (hosted by Detti Horvath) and Japanese night (hosted by Akiko Tokuoka). These two months are also a very special opportunity for our present students to meet all those who were a part of CSLI's 10 year history!

A New Student of the MonthStudent of the Month.
Added to the already wonderful family of special recipients of CSLI's Student of the Month Award is Ms. Asami Katsuragi. She took part in our Gala Celebrations, as well as all the other 10th Anniversary Reunion events already underway. In addition, she received a one-month full-time scholarship. It is a very exciting time to receive this award and we congratulate Asami on joining our other previous winners! For previous award winners, please click on the following link: http://csli.com/awards.htm This award was presented during CSLI's October graduation party, which was a Halloween Costume party, held at CSLI and followed by a club night at the Shark Club, where everyone had a fabulous time in their secret identities! Other great free Friday activities enjoyed by CSLI students last month included: the Vancouver International Film Festival, Bowen Island excursion, going to a professional football game (NFL), pottery painting, Imax Theater movie, being part of a TV show audience, and many academic classes such as: study skills class, face language class, resume writing & interview skills, pronunciation improvement, idioms and Feng Shui class.

Book Residence Groups Now!
As November and December are already full, we are urgently asking agents to reserve their groups as soon as possible. CSLI's in-school residence is receiving a lot of interest from groups of 20-30 so we would like to give our regular agents the first choice in booking before the opportunity is blocked out. CSLI's residence is particularly popular with groups wishing to combine downtown activities with their study as no travel time or costs are involved with students having to take public transportation. Please contact us if you would like to hear how our resident students are enjoying living at CSLI! Special rates are offered for groups studying and staying in CSLI's residence. Halloween Carnival!
Halloween Carnival.CSLI students were excited to take part in the Roundhouse Community Centre's fantastic Halloween Carnival for children of all ages. Students were invited to volunteer with the community centre to help run the games and activities at the Carnival and to assist with the set-up, decorations, and hosting of the event. Special thanks to the Roundhouse for asking us to be a part of this great evening and for the pizza dinner and free memberships that were given to the volunteers!

A Time for RememberingA Time for Remembering.
CSLI had the honor of having Joanne from the Vancouver Poppy Fund return to speak to CSLI's students about the significance and importance of Remembrance Day. She spoke about the fortune we all have to be together of so many different nationalities and enjoy peace and freedom together. She also reminded us that we should always be aware of our thankfulness for this gift. CSLI students learned the symbolism behind the poppy and had the opportunity to contribute to the poppy fund and wear poppies of their own. We thank Joanne for sharing her insightful thoughts on this very special memorial holiday.

TOEIC at CSLI scores big!
CSLI students received top marks with last months official TOEIC examination written here at the school. The average score of the 6 students who wrote the exam was 882! All students received scores between 845 and 915, one of the highest ever TOEIC score in CSLI history! Congratulations to Gunda Hess and all others who wrote the exam on their hard work and excellent achievement!

Best wishes from your friends at CSLI,

Lawrence & Lori-Ann Keenan
