Mr. CSLI Contest
Mr. CSLI Contest.
One of our all time favourite Graduation events was held this month as many of our students competed in our annual Mr. CSLI Contest. Both students and teachers were nominated to take part and capture the title of Mr. CSLI. Contestants were judged in three categories by a panel of seven female CSLI students . First was the runway walk which involved a wide range of strategies by competitors. Some tried to charm the judges with while others displayed their strength by striking bodybuilding poses. Next was the talent competition where the contestants sang, danced, told jokes, recited poetry, juggled and more. Finally, students drew a pre prepared questions from a hat and were judged on their answers in English. Congratulations to all of our competitors for their hard work and participation, especially to Masanori Takeshita - Mr. CSLI 2002! After the contest students stayed and danced the night away with their friends. Special thanks to Voda Nightclub for providing the location for our great graduation party!

Shave-A-Thon Fundraiser
Shave-A-Thon Fundraiser.Another annual event that took place this June was our Shave-A-Thon Fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Six student and teacher volunteers offered to have their heads shaved completely bald in return for pledges and donations from fellow students, homestay families, and friends. The event was organized in part through the Cops for Cancer program and students had the chance to listen to guest speaker Constable Tim Fanning from the Vancouver Police Department before the shaving started! Many thanks to Charlene Godin at Tech 1 Hair Design in Yaletown for donating her time and clippers to get the heads razor ready! In total CSLI managed to raise $877.00 for the Canadian Cancer Society!!

Internship Students
June was a very successful month for our Internship Program with our highest ever number of students working as volunteer Internship students with Canadian companies. Special thanks to all of the companies that provide these opportunities to our students, especially our most recent placements with BC Hydro, Investors Group, Scotia McLeod, tmp.worldwide, Quadra Pacific Engineering, Radiant Communications, Atrium Inn, and Seatrade Shipping Ltd. Congratulations to all of our Internship Students who work so hard and succeed in making this program beneficial for everyone involved. Keep up the great work!

World Cup Winners - Brazil! At the World Cup.
Lawrence returned from an incredibly successful World Cup 2002. You can read about his adventures through Korea and Japan from beginning to end at: http://www.csli.com/worldcup/japan/index.html. Interested in tickets for World Cup 2006 in Germany? See how to get them at: http://www.csli.com/worldcup/tips.html. Meantime back at CSLI, students and staff celebrated with other Brasilian fans on famous Commercial Drive shortly after the final at 6am in the morning. Although games played live from midnight to 5am every day during the competition classes and attendance remained unaffected, thanks to our dedicated students.

The Party of the Century...
As the summer is upon us, the final details are already getting organized for our reunion the fall. Thanks to all the grads who have e-mailed to say you will be joining us. We look forward to such events as: The grand sleep over at the school, the weekend with everyone at Whistler in a huge cabin, the bowling tournament, the Mr and Ms CSLI of the decade contest, the formal Christmas party at the Director's house, and much much more!

Best wishes from your friends at CSLI,

Lawrence & Lori-Ann Keenan
