CSLI
Students Sing for Seniors:
Students
warmed up their vocal chords and many hearts by singing Christmas carols
to our Yaletown neighboring businesses, as they continued on to Yaletown
House, a local seniors' home. They provided the elderly with a concert
and many animated moments which all enjoyed!

Chocolates and Chamber Music:
CSLI
students were given a pre Christmas treat by Nestle's Chocolate company
representatives who came by to let them be the first to sample several
new flavors of chocolate bars. Trays of chocolate were passed around to
all and the students gave their opinions on their favorite selection.
CSLI students were also given free tickets to the Vancouver Chamber Choir
Christmas concert held at the historical Orpheum Theatre. Special thanks
to both companies for helping our students feel at home in Vancouver this
holiday season.
Pronunciation
Contest Proves Most Popular of the Year:
About
40 students worked harder than usual at practicing to speak clearly and
loudly in order to participate in our popular contest, the winner of which
took home $100! Congratulations to all of our contestants for their courage
and effort and a special congrat's to our grand pronunciation champion:
Josef Zimmermann of Switzerland!

Santa
visits CSLI!
CSLI's
Christmas party was a wonderful success! A full Turkey lunch compliments
of CSLI was enjoyed by everyone, followed by songs from all the students,
a gift exchange, a secret Santa gift exchange, as well as a special visit
from Santa Claus himself! Santa had received many "Wish Letters" from
CSLI students who had special gifts they hoped to get, and Santa fulfilled
their dreams. To be a gift recipient, the students had to be on time for
all classes, do their homework, have participated in all school events
and most importantly, their wish letters had to explain why they deserved
to have their dream fulfilled. As every year, Santa was once again very
generous. Gifts included: scholarships, digital cameras, tape recorders,
English books, trips to Victoria, trips to Whistler, a palm pilot, ski
tickets, BC Ferries passes, pots and pans, kimchi, toys for their homestays,
a rice cooker, an SLR lens camera, a computer, telephone cards, flowers
for girlfriends at home, videos, Harry potter tapes and books, tutoring
lessons, a make over at a salon, books of Vancouver, a mattress and many
more....Santa hopes that all of you enjoyed your Christmas!
Pre-10th
Anniversary, Student of the Month Award:

to give our last Student of the Month award for 2001 to Andrea Gomez Conde
and her sister Veronica Gomez Conde of Mexico! They will receive a flight
back to our 10th Anniversary party next fall and 2, one month scholarships
to study with all the other students of the month. Congratulations to

2001
Ambassador of the Year Award:
Drum
roll please .... ! The 2001 most important achievement at CSLI goes to
Ji Young Park of Korea! Thanks to all her hard work and dedication to
CSLI, she has helped to introduce countless new students to our school.
We are glad that she was able to stop by on her way back to Korea after
a cross Canada trip, so that we could surprise her with her award!
