MARCH 2000 CSLI Classes are Full for March! 2000 has got off to a busy start with CSLI operating at full capacity this month. There are places available yet for other months, however we are expecting to be full again this summer. Therefore, please make sure that you or your clients book their study at CSLI as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Priority will be given to our select agents. http://www.csli.com/brochcalendar2000.htm CSLI & CanadaWide English Network
Visits Taiwan: Much attention was received at the Canadian Education Expo 2000 in Taipei. We would like to personally thank Mr. Pat Davis from our CanadaWide partner school in PEI (StudyAbroad) and our amazing CSLI alumni who attended and assisted at this show: Kitty, JoJo, Miriam & May (and Yukiko from Japan). We are so proud of our past students and we are so grateful for the loyalty and support they show at these events. Pat is also visiting Japan and Korea on behalf of CanadaWide. Special thanks also Mr Greg Nisbet (Village English), our CanadaWide partner for his incredible success in Europe and at Expolangues in Paris last month. http://www.csli.com/canada-wide.htm Our next show will be the CEC Education Fair in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey later this month. If any of our alumni in these cities are interested in helping us, we would be privileged to have you there. What great students they are. CSLI's March
Student of the Month is Demet Sesli! Speaking of Turkey, congratulations to Demet (from Malatya) for her dedication and hard work in becoming last month's top student. Best wishes also, to her husband, Turgut for joining in our recent celebrations and it was a real privilege for us to make friends with you both. http://www.csli.com/bulletinboard8.htm CSLI's March Social Calendar includes Whistler: In addition to our free Friday activities offered every week (recently, night skiing & NBA game) many CSLI students joined our weekend tours to Whistler & Seattle. We would like to thank our new Homestay Co-ordinator, Reiko, for organizing these (including free ski lessons!) and making these outings so much fun! Next month includes the famous Tulip Festival in Washington, Whistler & Victoria. http://www.csli.com/brochawards.htm Monthly Directors Party a Huge Success! 27 students from various countries (Turkey, Venezuela, Taiwan, Vietnam, Colombia, Japan, Argentina, the Province of Quebec, Mexico, Germany, Brasil, Switzerland and Korea) attended CSLI's monthly Directors' Party at Lawrence & Lori-Ann's home. It was a pleasure to have so many different cultures mixing socially and sharing their customs. I am sorry we can't invite everyone but our home just isn't big enough (yet) for you all! Learning English
Can be Fun and Rewarding at CSLI: Students,
teachers and homestays this month were incredibly successful in raising
nearly $900 in our recent educational Auction. This money goes to CSLI's
foster children, four young children from India, Chile, Dominican Republic
& the Philippines. This money will go to help with their health, clothing
& education, and once they are old enough, an English scholarship at CSLI.
Thank you. Tremendous Response About CSLI 2002 Reunion: Following last month's mailout to all our past students, many have already replied expressing interest in attending our 10th year Anniversary Reunion! This will be a fully-booked event, so please let us know if you are planning to attend. If past students have not received our Millennium Newsletter by now, please email us as we need to update our records with your latest address or email. We miss you! Our interactive Student Reunion page starts this week so please leave your messages to your CSLI friends (old & new) at: http://www.csli.com/guestbook.html CSLI's Latest Scholarship goes to Kristian Szentpeteri of Hungary! Congratulations and we look forward to meeting you real soon. Our Manager, Michelle Balogh speaks Hungarian well and is looking forward to meeting you. But please remember, English only at CSLI! Scholarships are awarded regularly to qualifying students. http://www.csli.com/bulletinboard11.htm Welcome to Our Special Interest Groups: CSLI has a group of Japanese short-term students studying with us this month during their university break. Although these students only stayed for 2-4 weeks, we immensely enjoyed meeting them and thank their agent for referring them to CSLI! This wonderful group of occupational therapy students were provided a visit to a local clinic of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation. CSLI can organise tours for professional students like this at no charge. Just ask! Our Quebec students have been a real treat also! Their classmates and CSLI's staff members are enjoying having them study with us and very much appreciate them contributing a valuable aspect of life in Canada.Thank you again to our valuable agents for introducing them to us! Free Friday Activities at CSLI in April will include: It's Spring time in Vancouver and we offer our students, free with their English study: tours to Vancouver Art gallery, NewWestminster (including Submarine tour), Ambleside park & Harbour Centre, extra classes in Idioms & Pronunciation, Tarot Card reading, Golfing, Easter Craft, Mexican Lunch and African Drumming. Please note that there are no classes over Easter (April 21-24) but skydiving, Vancouver Island & Whistler trips are organised for students wanting to adventure away. http://www.csli.com/brochfree.htm Interest in Co-Op Program Continues to Grow: CSLI's Volunteer Program Co-ordinator, Christine, is doing a great job placing our students into a variety of interesting areas, for the benefit of practising their English skills and meeting other Canadians. Professional positions provided this month include coffee shop, community centre, retail shop, day-care, sporting events, computer companies & others. http://www.csli.com/brochvolunteer.htm Really Experience Canada with Our Free Flight Offer! The word is spreading about CanadaWide English Network.... and many students are now realizing the many benefits of coming to Canada to study on our Fly-for-Free-Program! Aside from the incredible offer of free flights between our schools (when studying at more than one of our CanadaWide schools), there is the chance to experience different parts of Canada and its people. Some of our past students have already visited their CSLI classmates from French-speaking Quebec, after graduation from CSLI. http://www.csli.com/freeflight.htm What other country
can offer such diverse cultures and hospitality for international students
to enjoy? Vancouver is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world,
but students sure miss out on much of Canada when they don't visit other
parts of the country. Click here for more news: >> Newsletters Archives >>
