CSLI
Buys its New Campus:
Expect
CSLI to be in its new location for many years as it has just
completed the purchase of its new campus from Concord Pacific
Developments. CSLI is one of the few English schools
in Vancouver that own their own property. The new location
is currently under construction and will be complete and ready
for classes for our Februray students. Please remind
new students of this new address. Welcome to the new
Vancouver downtown: YALETOWN. The students this
month got a "sneak peak" of the new campus and everyone is
very excited about the move.

Christmas
in Vancouver at CSLI:
This month was a very
exciting month at CSLI. December brought many touching
moments this year: Putting up the annual Christmas tree
kicked off this month as many countries participated in
decorating it - many students mentioned they had never put
up a tree before. We remember the less fortunate at
Christmas and had a food drive - we donated 2 large boxes
of food to the Vancouver Food Bank. The popular Friday
activities this month were: ice skating, hiking in the snow
at Lynn Canyon, riding the Christmas train in Stanley park
and of course our big Christmas party and traditional turkey
feast at the Directors house.
Student
Christmas Party at Directors' Home:
All students were
invited by Santa to the CSLI Directors' home and nearly
100 students attended a free turkey lunch and celebrations.
Santa visited and gave some lucky, good students their dream
wishes. They included: a new bike, a camera,
2 month scholarships, a month pass at a gym, English tapes,
books, gourmet coffee vouchers, videos, ballet lessons,
a wallet, ski lesson and rental, a trip to Victoria, $50
telephone cards, Canucks hockey tickets and a jersey and
much more. Special thanks to North Vancouver Recreation
Centre and Big Joe's Coffee Bar for their donation. All
students prepared a Christmas song to sing and the photos
were-a-flashing! The party continued with the best
student of each class getting a special reserve of wine
bottled by CSLI.
Free
Friday Activities Continue Next Year:
Next month as we
prepare for our big move, some of the Free Friday activities
will be: tarot card reading, a trip to Bowen Island,
hairstyling, wine tasting class, Karaoke night, guitar lessons,
sushi lunch, pronunciation, grammar and idiom classes for
the hard workers and much more. Our big graduation celebration
next month will be a pot-luck lunch at a log cabin
at the top of Mount Seymour, including many games in the
snow!

December
was Pronunciation Month at CSLI:
December was pronunciation
month and all the students worked very hard at their pronunciation
for our big contest. Special congratulations to José
Antonio Bonequi Moreno & Joong-Yong (Jason) Lee for
being crowned the "Pronunciation Kings of CSLI"!
Jun Sun "Jason" Chung (also known as Mr. Chung) of Korea
was our final recipient in 2000 to win a free scholarship
and a flight back to our 10 year party in 2002. Congratulations
Jason on working so hard and participating in all of your
classes and CSLI events this month.

Ambassador
of the Year for 2000:
Special praise
goes to an incredibly hard working and pupular student of
ours. Deniz Altay of Turkey was our recipient of the
Ambassador of the Year. Apart from being a dedicted
student, Deniz has has also benn an excellent ambassador
for his country and has also been responsibel for helping
other Turkish students become comfortable with living and
studying in Canada. We are proud that his father has
the opportunity to join our special presentation of his
award at our pre-New Year's Eve graduation party.
We
look forward to seeing some of our old friends at the new
campus and wish you and your families the very best in the
New Year, 2001! Special congratulations to our CanadaWide
friends, Helen & Neal on their recent engagement, to Greg
& Takako Nisbet, on the birth of their son, Lucas and
to Pat & Paula on the upcoming birth of their baby!
