The reason CSLI has its own homestay network is to ensure the greatest convenience for our homestay students. We can ensure that each individual student's and homestay's needs are met with the least chance of misunderstandings.

We believe that at CSLI we offer one of the best homestay programs available in Vancouver. At a CSLI host family, the student can expect the following during their stay: private accommodation, use of a bathroom, provisions for three meals a day (at the very least, dinner should be eaten together), study furnishings in their room, and access to both laundry and telephone use. If there is more than one ESL student in your home they are never to be of the same nationality or of the same language background.

Through the review of the students' completed homestay application, we join the interests and needs of each student to the appropriate homestay. Factors determining homestay placement are the number and age of children, smoking policy, pets, previous homestay experience, gender of the student, location and public transit access, dietary restrictions, personality, special interests, and other personal requests.

CSLI wishes to encourage as much interaction as possible between the host family and our students, as this is their primary purpose for choosing a homestay. We therefore request that you involve the student in your family activities as much as possible.
